NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Propane and computers sectors provided some heat for investors Tuesday morning, while online brokers went in opposite directions.
GeoCities (GCTY) continued its march around the world, rising 8-7/16 to 152. The company announced Monday that it had chosen Netopia (NTPA) to create and manage GeoCities DLS, or Digital Subscriber Line, Education Center.
Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products NV (LHSP), Europe's largest speech-recognition software maker, was up 6-1/8 to 44 after Intel Corp. (INTC) agreed to invest $30 million in the company.
National Propane Partners LP (NPL) was up 4-9/16 to 11-3/8 after the propane distributor accepted a $221 million cash and debt offer from Columbia Energy Group. Also on the upswing was Biomatrix Inc. (BXM), rising 2-9/16 to 74-1/8, after announcing a two-for-one stock split.

Online traders passed each other on the elevator Tuesday morning. While Charles Schwab Corp. (SCH) was up 3-3/4 to 107-1/8, AmeriTrade Holding Corp. (AMTD) was dropping 4-3/8 to 87-1/4.
Going Down
Core Laboratories (CLB) was down 5-3/16 after announcing that it expected 1999 net income to fall "significantly below" last year's total. The company blamed the problem on continuing weakness in oil-field activities.
Allied Holdings Inc. (AHI) dropped 2-1/2 to 6-7/8 after the transporter of new and used cars and light trucks said it expects a first-quarter loss of $3.5 million to $4.5 million. Analysts had expected a $400,000 loss.
Also down was Genesee & Wyoming (GNWR), falling 2-7/16 to 9 after the railroad operator warned that it expected first-quarter revenue to fall.
