Paid mini-vacations during the week, outdoor lunches boost staff morale

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - One way to beat the pre-summer blahs is to schedule mini-vacations during the week.
When things are slow, boost morale around the office by letting your employees take a couple of hours off with pay to go to the beach, catch a softball game or attend a recreational class.
Encourage employees to take their lunches to a local park and get some fresh air. It's tough to concentrate on boring work when the sun is shining and the air is balmy.
Plan an all-company summer picnic. Form a committee to make the plans and buy the food. Reserve space in a park or other recreational area. And don't scrimp on the food or drinks -- a company party is 100 percent tax deductible.
