Prepare for time management issues; know your territory; be ready to walk

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - If you are planning to attend a trade show or conference, spend some time making a plan of attack.
Review the program in advance, either online or by reading the agenda before you get there. Make note of the sessions you absolutely have to attend and the ones you can definitely skip.
Then use your downtime to schedule meetings with clients or colleagues you know will be at the show. Be sure to take a few breaks during the day. Walking for miles around a trade show can wear out even the heartiest person.
Try to find a safe place to park your bag of materials because nothing is worse than dragging around 20 pounds of brochures and giveaways for four hours. If you know an exhibitor or vendor at the show, ask nicely if you can store your stuff under a table or behind his or her display.
