Three toy companies are recalling battery-powered riding vehicles

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Tek Nek, Fisher-Price and Empire Industries each are recalling battery-powered children's riding vehicle products, they announced separately Thursday.

Fisher-Price recalls "Power Wheels Harley-Davidson"


graphicThe East Aurora, N.Y.-based Fisher-Price is recalling about 218,000 battery-powered Power Wheels Harley-Davidson motorcycle ride-ons for repair.

The foot pedals can stick in the "on" position, injuring children when the motorcycle ride-on fails to stop.

The toy company has so far received one injury report and nine cases of stuck foot pedals.

Consumers should stop using these motorcycle ride-ons immediately, and call Fisher-Price at (888) 289-9292.

Empire Industries recalls "Power Drivers" and "Buddy L"


graphicEmpire Industries is recalling about 113,000 battery-powered children's riding vehicles, marked "Power Drivers" or "Buddy L," for repair.

The Tarboro, N.C.-based company said battery chargers of the product can overheat, and even present fire and injury hazards to children.

Empire Industries has received about 100 reports of the chargers overheating, melting or burning, and five house fires have been reported so far, resulting in at least $100,000 in property damage.

Consumers should stop using the vehicles immediately and contact Empire at (800) 872-1869 to receive a new charger adapter at no cost.

Tek Nek recalls children's riding vehicles


graphicTek Nek also made a recall announcement of about 294,000 battery-powered children's riding vehicles to replace the battery chargers.

The products being recalled are powered by one 6-volt battery and were sold under the model names Prowler, Dodge Ram, Corvette, SPX Motorcycle and Honda.

The Mokena, Ill.-based company said the product can be hazardous due to overheating chargers.

The company has so far received 17 reports of battery chargers and wires overheating while vehicles were being charged.

Tek Nek asks consumers to stop using the products and contact Tek Nek at (877) 446-7719 for more instructions on the recall. Back to top
