Hire a consultant, or find an MBA student to write down your vision

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Dear Jane: Are there inexpensive services for writing business plans? I have a friend who wants to take the plan to investors, but doesn't have the time or money to write his own plan.
No investor is going to invest in a company if the owner doesn't have enough time to work on his or her own business plan. There are many sources of help, but writing the plan is key to defining and clarifying the direction of the business, no matter how small it may be.
You can hire a business plan consultant to edit and polish the plan, but you have to provide all the basics in a rough form. You might find a graduate student in a MBA program who is willing to help you with the plan for a fee or college credit.
There are many different formats used for business plans, but every one needs: a short executive summary, details about your product or service, pricing information, a description of your management team and the kinds of people you plan to hire, a marketing plan, and a very detailed analysis of the competition.
If you aren't willing to spend time writing down your vision, no one with any sense will ever invest in your company.
