Report on Durable Goods Prior Press Releases
New Orders
New orders for manufactured durable goods in
February decreased $0.4 billion or 0.2 percent to $199.2 billion, the
Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census reported today. This follows
a 7.3 percent January decrease.
Shipments
Shipments of durable goods in February decreased
$0.6 billion or 0.3 percent to $200.9 billion, following a 2.5 percent
January decrease. This is the fifth consecutive decrease. Year to date,
shipments for 2001 are 3.3 percent below the same period a year ago.
Unfilled Orders
Unfilled orders for durable goods in
February decreased $1.7 billion or 0.3 percent to $568.4 billion,
following a 0.3 percent January decrease.
Capital Goods Industries
Defense
New orders in February increased $1.6 billion or
28.8 percent to $7.0 billion.
Nondefense
New orders in February decreased $4.1 billion or
6.4 percent to $59.6 billion.
Revised January Data
REVISED JANUARY DATA Revised
seasonally adjusted January figures for all manufacturing industries are:
shipments, $366.9 billion (revised from $368.0 billion); new orders,
$364.9 billion (revised from $366.5 billion); unfilled orders, $595.1
billion (revised from $595.6 billion); and total inventories, $496.0
billion (revised from $496.3 billion).
Released March 27, 2001. This report presents advance information on
two key business indicators: durable goods manufacturers' shipments and
orders. Revised and more detailed estimates plus nondurable goods and
inventory data will be published April 3, 2001. The advance report on
durable goods for March is scheduled for April 25, 2001.
