Company on track to profitability, but Amazon CEO makes no guarantee

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - There was a time when any stock that ended with ".com" could do no wrong in investors' eyes, and Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com, was the undisputed poster boy of the New Economy.
But then the dot.com boom went bust and the Seattle-based online superstore has struggled through a difficult environment toward the elusive goal of turning a profit.

In an exclusive interview Monday on Lou Dobbs Moneyline, Bezos told Dobbs that his company is still on track for its first operating profit by this year's fourth quarter but would make no specific promises.
