NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- A Malaysian man accused of hacking into the Federal Reserve's computer system pleaded guilty Wednesday in New York.
Lin Mun Poo had been accused of hacking into a computer network of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and installing a malicious code onto the Fed's server.
Appearing in court on Tuesday, Poo pleaded guilty to those charges and admitted to installing the code. He also admitted to possessing more than 400,000 stolen credit and debit card account numbers.
Poo, 32, was arrested in October by Secret Service agents as he attempted to enter the U.S. at Kennedy International Airport in New York.
His laptop was seized, and agents uncovered financial account data and personal identifying information that prosecutors allege he obtained by hacking into the computer networks of various financial institutions.
In addition to gaining access to the Fed's computer network, he also hacked into a Department of Defense contractor's network that contained "highly sensitive military logistics information." ![]()
