Job growth (2000-2010): 32.4%

In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Carver County accounts for at least 50 of them. The community, located at the southwest edge of the Twin Cities metro area, has seen its population grow by almost a third over the last decade, but still tries to maintain a rural feel.

County seat Chaska wants to hold on to that country charm while answering the business needs of its growing populace. The city is formulating a downtown development plan to bring companies in without ruining its small-town atmosphere. The plan includes sprucing up the city center while redeveloping areas for new housing, parks and businesses.

135 new jobs have recently come into Carver County from the Two Twelve Medical Center, which opened its doors in February. The facility offers 24/7 emergency care, outpatient facilities and family and specialty care.
