  • Where: Trout Creek, Mont.
  • When: August 14-16, 2015

The Trout Creek Huckleberry festival keeps everything family-friendly. There's no drinking or smoking and all the products, such as jams, jellies, and deserts, are made by the vendors themselves.

Among the main events are a talent show that crowns a Miss Huckleberry and Mr. Huck Finn. There's also a "Homesteader Pentathlon," where participants complete five tasks including log sawing, water bucket carrying and fly casting.

Many of the 3,000 to 5,000 visitors continue on to Glacier National Park, with its amazing alpine scenery, or go camping and hiking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Both are about a three-hour drive away.

For those who want to stay close by, Trout Creek offers world class fly fishing. There's also bass fishing on Noxon Reservoir, right next to the town.
