Bossier City has plenty of energy. The city sits on top of a massive natural gas reservoir -- and it has been coming up with ways to use it. Residents already have low electricity and gas bills, and the city recently opened two compressed natural gas service stations.
The town also has a lively spirit. Gamblers can try their luck at three riverboat casinos, shoppers can find deals at Louisiana Boardwalk's outlet centers, and outdoors types can take advantage of great fishing and hunting.
Home prices have stayed about 20% below national averages, and they aren't expected to rise much in the near future.
