Bargain hunters have been snapping up homes in Dale City almost as soon as they hit the market. Government workers especially like the city's affordable prices and reasonable commute to Washington, D.C.
However, the city is distant enough from the nation's capital to offer plenty of parks, green spaces and playgrounds. The Potomac River is also nearby for weekends of sailing and fishing.
Much of the community was built by developer, Hylton Enterprises. By building whole neighborhoods at a time, the builder was able to keep new home prices low.
