Best device of 2012: The new Samsung Chromebook. I know, there are gobs of new tablets and phones, and they're all faster, thinner, lighter and sharper than last year's models. Many are great. But I'm going to go with the new Samsung Chromebook. The limitations are obvious. This is not a full-fledged computer, just a window onto the Web. For $250, however, it's a very nice window indeed. It has the look and feel of an ultrabook. It starts up fast and never needs upgrades. And it's inexpensive enough that you could have two or three lying around the house.
The company just introduced three gorgeous new devices. Here's proof it wasn't always so adept.
