First tweet from space

NASA astronaut T.J. Creamer, who goes by "Astro_TJ" on Twitter, sent the first live tweet from space in January 2010.

Creamer later told Mediabistro that Commander Jeff Williams was slated to send the first tweet, but technical problems stymied the in-space Internet connection at first. Creamer, who didn't know Williams was meant to tweet first, was able to finagle a fix while everyone was sleeping -- so he went ahead and tweeted.

In the morning, Williams tried out the connection and promptly ordered a bouquet sent to his wife.
